AI Crawler Access Critical

GPTBot and ClaudeBot are blocked in robots.txt. These crawlers cannot index your site for AI-generated answers.

Organisation Schema Critical

No Organisation or LocalBusiness schema detected. AI systems cannot reliably identify what this business does.

llms.txt Medium

No llms.txt found. This emerging standard helps AI tools understand site structure and prioritise key pages.

Your prioritised fix list
DO FIRST
Unblock GPTBot and ClaudeBot
Add allow rules to robots.txt. Takes 5 minutes and immediately opens your site to AI crawlers.
DO FIRST
Add Organisation schema markup
Implement JSON-LD with business name, description, and service areas. High impact for AI citations.
DO NEXT
Create llms.txt
A 10-line file that tells AI systems which pages matter most on your site.
What’s included

Six things we check. One clear report.

Every audit covers the same six areas, because all six matter for AI visibility. You’ll know exactly where you stand on each.

AI crawler access

GPTBot, ClaudeBot, and PerplexityBot are the automated tools that ChatGPT, Claude, and Perplexity use to read websites. We check whether they can access your site, or whether they’re silently blocked, as they are on most WordPress sites by default.

Schema markup review

Schema markup is the behind-the-scenes code (JSON-LD) that tells AI systems what your business does, who it serves, and what your content means. We audit what’s present, what’s missing, and what’s misconfigured. For WooCommerce sites we check Product, Offer, and Review schema specifically.

GEO visibility test

GEO stands for Generative Engine Optimisation: the practice of appearing in AI-generated answers. We run real queries in ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google AI Overviews relevant to your business. You’ll see exactly whether you appear, and what your competitors say about you.

Core Web Vitals

Core Web Vitals are Google’s measure of how fast and stable your site loads for real users. AI systems prioritise clean, fast, reliable sources. A slow site is not just a user experience problem, it’s an AI visibility problem too.

Content structure for AI

AI systems extract and cite content that leads with direct answers, uses question-style H2 headings, and includes FAQ sections with FAQPage schema. We review your key pages and flag exactly what needs restructuring for better AI visibility and GEO performance.

Who it’s for

Right for you if…

You have an existing WordPress or WooCommerce site

The audit works against your live site. No rebuilding needed, just a live URL.

You’re worried about AI search affecting your traffic

You’ve heard about ChatGPT changing how people search and want to know if your site is ready.

You want to understand before committing to fixes

You don’t want to spend on implementation work without knowing what actually needs doing first.

You run a subscription or membership WooCommerce store

These sites have extra schema complexity that most audits miss. We check for it specifically.

Probably not right if…

You want someone to fix things without explaining what they’re doing
Your site is brand new with no existing content or SEO presence
You’re on a fully hosted platform like Squarespace or Wix (some fixes won’t be possible)
Common questions

Things people ask before booking.

Do you need access to my WordPress admin?
No. The audit is entirely external. We test your live site as a user and as an AI crawler would. No admin access, FTP, or credentials needed. If we later do implementation work, we’ll ask for access at that stage.
What if the audit finds nothing wrong?
That would be unusual. Most WordPress sites have at least some AI readiness gaps. But if your site is genuinely in good shape, we’ll tell you clearly and explain what’s already working well. You still get a useful baseline document.
Does the audit include fixing anything?
No, the audit is diagnostic only. You get a full picture of what needs doing and in what order. If you want us to implement the fixes, that’s the AI Readiness Implementation service (from £1,500).
How is this different from a standard SEO audit?
A standard SEO audit looks at ranking signals for Google’s traditional results. This audit focuses specifically on AI search: the signals that determine whether ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google’s AI Overviews can read, understand, and cite your content. There’s overlap, but they’re different enough to require separate focus.
My site already ranks well on Google. Do I still need this?
Probably yes. Strong Google rankings and strong AI search visibility use different signals. Many well-ranked sites score poorly on AI readiness because traditional SEO doesn’t require correct schema markup, llms.txt, or AI crawler permissions. The GEO visibility test will show you exactly whether your rankings translate to AI citations.
I already have Yoast SEO (or Rank Math) installed. Doesn’t that cover this?
Partially, and it’s doing useful things. But there’s a significant gap between “plugin installed” and “properly configured for AI search.” Most sites using Yoast still have unconfigured Organisation schema (the plugin adds it, but the business details are blank), no FAQPage markup on service pages, and security plugins that silently block GPTBot and ClaudeBot despite Yoast being active. Yoast also can’t restructure your content for AI extractability, create a meaningful llms.txt, or test your actual visibility in ChatGPT and Perplexity. The audit tells you exactly what your plugin setup is and isn’t doing , and what still needs hands-on work.
What is an llms.txt file and do I need one?
An llms.txt file is an emerging standard. Think of it as a welcome note for AI tools. It sits in your site root and tells AI systems which pages are most important, how to interpret your content, and what your business does. It’s not yet universal, but AI tools that support it use it to understand your site more accurately. We create and deploy one as part of every implementation project.
Can you audit a site outside of WordPress?
Yes, the audit is entirely external and works against any live website. We can audit Squarespace, Shopify, Webflow, or any other platform. Note that some fixes from the audit (like adding custom schema or editing robots.txt) may be more limited on fully-hosted platforms compared to WordPress.
I’m based in Reading or London – do you work locally?
We’re based in Reading, Berkshire and work with clients across the UK, including London, the Thames Valley, and beyond. All audit and implementation work is done remotely, so location doesn’t affect what we can deliver. We’re happy to jump on a call wherever you are.
